Abp. Arguelles is the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lipa in Batangas. Prior to his present ministry, he served as the Military Ordinary of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines from 1995 to 2005, and as the chaplain of the Filipino Catholic migrants in Rome from 1990 to 1992. Those who studied in the University of the Philippines would remember the good bishop as their parish priest who used to celebrate mass during the mid 1980s at the architecturally acclaimed church of the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice inside the UP Diliman campus. Abp. Arguelles will be celebrating mass at the John 23rd Parish in Geneva on the day of his arrival on Wednesday, 19 August, at 6:30 pm. On the following day, he will fly to Haarlem, the Netherlands, to attend the European Conference of Couples for Christ. On the occasion of his visit, the good bishop has expressed his desire to meet parishioners from his province of Batangas. A special invitation is therefore being extended to all Batanguenos to participate in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the John 23rd Parish and to the small salu-salo dinner afterwards. |
In yet another manifestation of how blessed the Filipino Catholics of Switzerland are, His Excellency Archbishop Ramon Arguelles is scheduled to visit Switzerland on 19 August 2009.
